Dr. Mayur M Kamani - best Orthopedic Oncology surgeon in Ahmedabad - completed his M.S. Orthopaedics from K.S.Hedge Medical Academy, Mangalore in 2015. During residency only Dr. Mayur developed interest in Orthopaedic Oncology and published case report on benign bone tumour of Talus Bone. During his post graduate training in Orthopaedics surgery, he started exploring about sub specialty branch Orthopaedic Oncology.
After pursuing of Master degree in Orthopaedic Surgery in 2015, he joined as Senior Registrar in department of Orthopaedics at C.U. Shah Medical College, Surendranagar, Gujarat.
Dr. Mayur gained knowledge and received training in the Orthopaedics Oncology department of the Tata Memorial Cancer Centre, Mumbai, in 2016 under guidance of his mentors Professor Dr Ajay Puri and Dr Ashish Gulia. He has learnt the principles of management of Bone & Soft tissue tumors. During his training, he was involved in all kind of surgery, like limb salvage surgeries with mega prosthesis, complex amputations in various age groups, treatment of benign bone disease etc. He was actively involved in scientific publications, ongoing clinical trials and research projects. Further He was awarded as International Clinical Fellow at Seoul National University Hospital, South Korea in Department of Musculoskeletal Oncology in 2018 under Professor Dr Kim Han Su and Professor Dr Ilkyu Han.
Professor Dr Kim Han Su is one of the senior most and respected faculty in the world arena of musculoskeletal oncology. During his international training, he was actively participated in multi-disciplinary tumor board meetings, radiology–pathology sessions and also attended local annual meetings and conference as well. This international fellowship was an amazing learning experience specifically in Navigation assisted surgeries, complex reconstruction after pelvis tumour resection and soft tissue tumors in the field of Orthopaedics Oncology.
After completion International training in South Korea, he joined Gujarat Cancer & Research Institute (GCRI), Ahmedabad in 2018. Initially he joined as a Clinical Fellow for a Year and following Did Senior Residency for a year under Dr. Jaymin Shah and Dr Abhijeet Salunke. Both are Young and Dynamic Orthopaedic Oncosurgeon under whom he performed and assisted limb salvage surgeries and Newer Techniques like use of liquid Nitrogen in Bone tumour surgeries, 3D model and Printing use complex Pelvis Surgeries.
After completing National and International Training in field of Orthopaedic Oncology Dr.Mayur has joined HCG Cancer Centre, Ahmedabad, which is the first dedicated private Comprehensive Cancer hospital of Gujarat state, founded with an aim to consistently provide high quality and result oriented cancer care treatment by adopting global innovations and technologies.
He performs all kind of surgeries in field of Orthopaedic Oncology like benign bone tumor including Giant cell tumor (GCT) with currretage, Anurysemal bone cyst (ABC) with sclerotherapy, for Malignant bone tumour - wide resection of tumor and Megaprostheisis reconstruction which included Expandable Total Femur replacement, also performs challenging surgeries including Intercalary resection of tumor & reconstruction with re-implantation of ECRT (Extra corporeal radiotherapy) bone and Cryotherapy (Liquid Nitrogen). Metastatic bone tumors with pathological fractures are treated with mutidisplinary management. Soft tissue sarcomas are treated with wide resection and with a modern technique of brachytherapy.
Dr.Mayur is actively involved in academic activities and taking keen interest in teachings of Orthopaedics oncology to MCH & DNB Surgical Oncology and DM Medical Oncology residents. He has published research publications in internationally acclaimed medical journals and pubmed index journal.
Dr.Mayur is actively involved a planning and managing of an International Orthopaedics Oncosurgery conference “ONCOORTHOCON 2018” and “ONCOORTHOCON 2021”, at Ahemdabad, India. Those conferences were a great knowledge feast for Orthopaedics surgeons across the nation and will have active involvement of various international and national faculties.
